Excellent colors and application of paint! Whimsical, yet eerie. I like it! Is the house singing? I like the way it almost appears to be with the music below.

Excellent piece! Simple yet stirring, bold yet cool with the colored strips as well as the staples. Don't you love Tyvek? I've been using it since '99, but those fumes-How large is this one?

Thank you DeMarie. I do like this painting too, as so many never quite turn out the way one wants. I have found in life there are too many complications, so why not look for the simple, beautiful things that surround us, and experiment on simplicity…

Hi, Edna. I was born in Connecticut on the border, but lived mostly in the Poughkeepsie/Wappingers Falls area. I went to college there and at New Paltz State Univ. I love Manhattan and my parents are both from Brooklyn. I used to date a jazz sax player who lived on E. 81st. I could easily hope the train and be in the city in an hour or so to see a play or hit the museums. I so miss it, the culture and foods! Living in the Southwest desert, hours from anywhere is not my cup of tea, so I go for the vibrant colors I remember. Everything is beige out here. Ugh. It has it's own beauty, but I miss my four seasons. I create in many mediums, and if you ever have a question, or need advice don't hesitate to write. I'm an educator by trade and more than willing to help you through. {+: Kate

Thank you so much for your beautiful comments Kate. Where did you live when you lived here in NYC? I live in Upper Manhattan, in Washington Heights. The photographs are from Fort Tryon Park, my favorite place in the city...yes, even more than Central Park! I'm here with my husband and 4-y-o son while my husband finishes his PhD at CUNY. We are from Puerto Rico. I love the vibrancy of your work, some of it is punch-you-in-the-face beautiful, one gets struck by the colors and shapes in the best way possible. I'm a beginner and trying to learn all the worderful stuff Deb has to offer. There is lots I could learn from you.

Thank you Deb! I also wish you a great holiday season, and now that I'm finally feeling 100%, look forward to getting more involved. So goals may not have been fully attained, but thanks to your helpful videos for Etsy, I've been able to get a store up and am now working on getting some "products" created. You are a blessing! Hi, Kathryn!

Thanks a million for your kind words on my work - I appreciate it very much!

Experimental Youth is small - just 4 x 6 inches. Yeah, those tyvek fumes can be nasty - I like to do it outside so I'm not breathing in something I can't smell, ya know? :o)

Your avatar is SO cute - looks like you're having a lotta fun! I love it!

A Caribbean Holiday Celebration!

A Caribbean Celebration

Some of my friends in Administration have recently asked me to tell them how
we celebrate the holidays in my country, Puerto Rico.

I’m sure it would seem simple to just say: “Well, we put up a tree, sing songs around it, eat lots and lots of food made by our moms and aunts and grannies and have gifts under the tree for the little ones. And that would be true, we do all that because that is part of all the good and sometimes bad stuff we have inherited fro… Continue
